About Patient & Caregiver Engagement

In our Patient & Caregiver Engagement Department, health education specialists collaborate with Memorial Sloan Kettering’s expert healthcare providers to provide people with cancer, their caregivers, and the public with accurate, reliable information to empower them to participate in their cancer care. Through our virtual library, you can access written information, videos, and webcasts.

Chasity Burrows Walters, PhD, RN; Director of Patient & Caregiver Engagement

The director oversees all aspects of Patient & Caregiver Education. This includes managing the content in our virtual library and teaching communication and educational techniques to MSK’s doctors and nurses. The director also conducts research to determine the best way to educate people with cancer and their caregivers.

Health Education Specialists 

These specialists work with content experts to develop and review educational resources available in our virtual library. They also work with doctors and nurses to improve teaching strategies and participate in and manage projects.

Patient & Caregiver Engagement Manager

Our manager oversees our Virtual Programs division, which provides live online sessions led by MSK’s healthcare providers. These sessions are confidential and free and you can access them from home. The manager handles educational projects as well.

Web Specialist

Our web specialist manages the Patient & Caregiver Education website, leads technology-based initiatives, and supports other projects, activities, and operations in the department.
